Help Restore and Preserve the

General Jubal A. Early Homeplace

The Challenge

The Jubal A. Early Preservation Trust, Inc. has begun a $1,000,000 capital campaign in an effort to preserve and restore the boyhood home of Confederate General Jubal A. Early, in the Red Valley section of Franklin County, Virginia. The home and surrounding area will serve to interpret Early's childhood on a typical old Virginia tobacco plantation, his military experiences, and his immense post war contribution to the printed history of the Southern Cause.

A Virginia foundation has pledged to match contributions up to $250,000 toward this goal, thus making each tax-deductible donation worth twice as much to the preservation effort. The homeplace along with eight acres of land already has been donated to the trust.
